Honestly, with all of the volatility, I’d be hesitant to go without a job, even though you have great savings.

What you can do is look for a different job now while maintaining your current employment. Then, if you get a job offer, you can take it and negotiate a delayed start date. Then you can take off a couple of months before starting the new job.

Surviving isn't really a desirable outcome, finding a new job where you're more likely to thrive is the goal.

I think The Mom Test was the biggest game changer for me lately. Changed completely how I talk with customers now - instead of "selling them the idea" I just ask simple questions about their experience, which lets me understand the problem better and how painful it actually is. It's a must read for anyone trying to validate their startup idea

They are generally used as tools to get rid of people. Theoretically they could be used to actually track improvements, but it’s rare.

Just start a job search and see what you can find.  If you find something better - take it.  I have the same goal as you I think it makes a lot of sense.

This isn't really a financial decision. The best financial decision is to keep your highly paying, secure job, especially if your alternate plans are completely ambiguous. That's really regardless of the current economic status quo.

Is your wellbeing truly at stake? We can't answer that question, only you can. If you're taking advice it should probably be from your wife, as if you leave without something immediate to replace your salary it will affect her lifestyle also. Is she comfortable being the sole breadwinner for a potentially extended period?

There are always ways out of the 9-to-5 grind whatever the context. You will survive whatever you decide. But if long-term finances are the question, keeping your job is the answer.

The most likely answer is that search is just temporarily broken.

The issue with a PIP is even if you survive the initial period which typically doesn't happen you can be cut afterwards for failing to maintain the requirements. It's like having a permanent target on your back, finding employment elsewhere is the best option.

There's a lot here for you to unpack. If I were you I would figure out these things first:

1) Total asset value (including your individual savings and the value of the house)

2) How much money expect to spend each year. I'm guessing the disease will change this amount as it progresses, so do your best to estimate. 

3) How many years you expect you need to pay for (i'd buffer in a good number of years on the safe side, and hopefully that becomes true).

Once you have this info, then figure out whether you have a shortfall or surplus of funds. As we get closer to retirement/death it's better to become more risk-averse, so I probably wouldn't do anything other than index funds.

My key advice - Given you're 25 and in the best shape of your life right now, i'd 100% take a chunk of that cash say ($20-$30k) and budget backpack for as long as you can. I'm early 30's and travelled to around 60 countries.....and I noticeably don't have the same level of energy to travel the way I did in my early/mid 20's. To me people who wait to age 65 to begin their travels are foolish, in many cases we don't get there and in other cases you can't enjoy it nearly as much because you're tired.

Can husband work while kinds are in school or pick up some work around the house to help you? 

The biggest thing that stands out to me is that property worth 1.3 million that only brings in 12k a year after expenses. If that money was invested in the stock market or just about anything or even a HYSA you would make more money on it and have less of a head ache. 

Also that is a lot to have in the HYSA, consider investing it. 

Lastly, was your 401k always getting 5% or is that since the market went a little crazy after the election?

This is burn out my friend and I am going through the same. I took a career break and trying to do some soul searching on how to heal and get that spark back but it's taking longer than I thought it would. I was in consulting too.

I’m still new to this and getting started, but I definitely felt like I learned a lot from The E-Myth revisited.

A couple thoughts:

1. Where is the NY Condo and how are you leasing it out (ie tenant vs airbnb)? 12k net after expenses feels low 

2. Are your kids in private school/preschool? I’m sure you’ve done your research but typically public schools have more resources for high/special needs kids. 

3. Any path to your husband eventually working or taking more of the emotional/mental load - burn out is real and need both partners pulling their weight. 

4. Easiest lever from a financial perspective (hardest for life disruption) is moving out of SF area.

Hey man, I really feel you on this, and the truth is you're not alone.

What you're describing is something I’ve seen (and personally experienced): that quiet, internal *disorientation* that hits high-achievers in their 30s, and some a little later.

You’re not lazy. You’re not ungrateful. What I've found is you're just out alignment with your current level of success. You've achieved everything you wanted in the past, so now that you got to the top of your mountain, you don't know what's next.

If you think about it, in your 20s, ambition was easy:

it was about proving yourself, achieving status, stacking income.

That ambition had a fuel source: survival, identity, growth.

But once you “make it” on paper (income, house, family), the metrics change… but nobody tells you how to redefine them.

What you're feeling is the signal to recalibrate. You need new reasons to grind (which is hard to do specially once you have a comfortable lifestyle).

You're now in the "self-actualization" part of the hierarchy of needs.

What I've found in this case is it's not motivation you need, it's clarity. You’re running hard, but the finish line is blurry. That leads to burnout masked as boredom.

Here’s what helped me (and others I’ve worked with):

Think of your new/updated interests, start focusing on meaning (what do you find fulfilling, how can you make yourself useful beyond your family and current work?), if you could build anything in one year, what would you be proud of?

A business? A new project? Giving back? Helping others get to where you are?

And most importantly, don't do it alone. Find a group of like-minded individuals.

Deep down your ambition hasn't vanished; it's there. It just needs to be channel towards a new mission.

PS: One thing I forgot to mention is "the new mission" will never come to you out of the blue. You have to CHOOSE to chase it. You make the decision and then things will come to you. Just how you chose to be where you are. You have to do the same with your next mission.

its a strategic failure that the company does not have a communicator capable of expressing this quickly to a global audience. Preventing narratives from taking hold in the minutes and hours after news is required now a days.

Between that and its complete failure to form b2b relationships theres real head wins this company will face for the for seeable future.

Google has 10s of thousands of engineers doing incremental work that are insanely talented, they should be forward deployed engineers integrating gemini into every corporation. Neither openai or palantir could compete with that.

I don't think google's dead but it has meaningful headwinds in leadership, regulation, and competition atm. Its in a marginally better place than meta was when apple changed its algo at the same time zuck was spending a small countries gdp a year on a metaverse no one asked for. Meta got down to a pe of 11 without its moat being threatened at all.

Can you give us a better sense of your expenses, both current and based on your intentional lifestyle of the future? I think you have enough to set you up with about $2K a month for the next 25+ years if invested in a few asset classes. You'll need more equities, and keep a certain amount of money market or treasuries to smooth out any volatility that is bound to happen over this timespan.

How much is the house worth? Do you plan to keep it, live in it, rent it or sell it?

In addition to your inheritance, sounds like you have your own investments and retirement accounts. That's great and you should include that in your balance sheet.

Don't quit your job just yet, you need to lay out all your options and see what works best for you. You could do a few years of travel without work, spend a bit more, and then come back to a life of employment but doing whatever you're passionate about. Or if your expenses stay low, you might be set for the rest of your life. Or you could choose some type of hybrid option, where you come in and out of employment, or part time, etc. So it will be helpful to understand your current expenses and what your projected expenses might be based on what you want to do.

Ensure your funds are with a low cost brokerage or investment house. You must not keep the money with someone charging you 1% to manage your money (Assets Under Management model). Read up on bogleheads or risk parity style portfolios, where you can smooth out your returns and have more predictable income streams.

Also you will need to time the withdrawals correctly, and you'll pay taxes on the inherited retirement account with the stocks - it will come out as regular income, to the tune of maybe \~$20K a year for the ten years. If the oil investments are on top of that then you'll owe taxes on those. Would be a great time to reduce income, reduce expenses and enjoy the freedom if that's your goal. Otherwise, please plan accordingly. Same with the money market funds, income there is taxed as regular income. If you reinvest that money then you might benefit from lower tax rates (even 0% on capital gains in a lot of conditions).

Talking of which, I do think the money market funds need to be reinvested and split up into domestic equities, international equities, long term treasuries, and some short term cash like SGOV. That will help smooth out the ride and add income to the tune of a few percent per annum, along with 5%-8% annual growth averaged out over longer periods. This will be particularly helpful after the first ten years where you deplete the inherited retirement account. But it all depends on how much income you will need, so back to the original question of projecting expenses in different scenarios.

Hopefully that gives you enough to ask your CPA. Also, hoping they are fee only, and a fiduciary, and won't direct you to buy funds that they are making commissions on. Just go with any of the big companies like Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab - they all have very cheap funds that track the market well. All the best and hang in there!

I think the first thing you need to ask yourself is what do you want out of life? Do you want to party, do you want a family, travel's awesome is that the only thing you want? Do you want to help people? Do you want to call down terrible vengeance on that kid Michael from 4th grade?  

Once you've figured out exactly what you want out of life, it'll be easy to put together a road map. 

If all you want is to travel I would look for a light remote work job, do the digital nomad thing and just supplement my lifestyle with the dividends on a position in VOO. I hate the whole die with zero philosophy. Too much can change.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts lately from people saying they’ve sent out 300, 500, even 1000+ applications before landing a job. It's not normal and I think it is breaking our industry.

I was talking to a family member who was a developer in in 90s, and he said any time he needed a job he would apply to 5 roles and get at least one job offer. Not necessarily an amazing offer in his words, but something. In the 2000s, he said it was a bit more competitive, but could land an offer for every 10 applications. 

Even in 2015, I found I could apply to 20 or 30 jobs and be relatively confident in getting an offer. Assuming I wasn't stretching myself, most jobs I was applied for I would get an interview for, even if we determined it wasn't a good fit.

But now I am regularly seeing people say you need to submit 100s to 1000s of applications to get a job. & applying to 100 jobs without getting past the screener.

I feel like the ladder has been pulled up & the hiring process has become fully kafkaesque. its a regular refrain here now that you can be the best applicant for the role and be filtered out by the ATS, it depends on your luck. this system seems designed to abuse people seeking work rather than find the best applicant. 

For those of us who can take advantage of our professional networks, we might still find we only need to have 20 or 30 conversations with people to land our next role. Since we can get referrals or speak directly to hiring managers out of band.

But every publicly posted job getting +1000 applicants. If things continue at this rate we will soon see people saying we will need 10,000 or 100,000 job applications submitted in order to land a role. I don't know what the solution is but this just doesn't make sense and seems completely awful. turning the job market into a casino isn't helping employees or employers.

Every morning I wake up, open my laptop, and remind myself I have a degree in Computer Science… in Italy. 25,000 euros gross per year. That’s about 1,400 euros a month, if you’re lucky. Now subtract rent (600–800 if you live alone), bills, groceries, public transport, regional taxes, and maybe a dinner or two out. 

What’s left? Enough for coffee and a mild existential crisis.

Meanwhile, you scroll through Reddit or LinkedIn and see people in Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, or the US earning two or three times as much for the same job. Some even get relocation packages, stock options, health insurance that actually insures, and salaries that don’t feel like a prank.

So here’s the real question: 
Is this just how it is everywhere for junior devs or are we getting scammed? 
If you’re a computer science grad, is there a country where your skills actually pay off? And most importantly… 

Should we stay and “fight”, or pack our laptops and move?

25k RAL and dreams stuck in a loop: does staying in Italy still make sense?

Just had a 1-on-1 meeting with my manager and HR added to my calendar, for first thing in the morning. I am on a 90-day PIP so not too out of the blue I guess, though I’ve received great feedback recently. But the PIP outlines if I do get terminated, they will do it on the spot without warning. So not sure why they are waiting until in the morning (for context, we still have three hours left in the workday). I expect it might be because we have a mandatory team dinner tonight and my manager wants to keep appearances.

Now I’m wondering; should I quit now to get ahead of it (and give me time to clean out my desk) or should I go to dinner tonight and ride out the meeting tomorrow morning?

Big consideration here: I work in finance. My U5 gets filed whether I leave voluntarily or not. U5s aren’t black and white, and it’s really up to my company whether disclose my termination (and the reasoning) on it or not. I’ve heard a termination on the U5 is career-ending, so of course not ideal. So do I wait until that point or resign/have more control over my situation?

EDIT: I did officially get terminated. Didn’t give me an option to quit. Also wouldn’t tell me what the language on my U5 would be, but did say they were labeling it as an “involuntary resignation”. Dk how much weight that holds but I assume that’s the same as a termination. Not sure what my short and long term plans are tbh. Thanks everyone for the insight.

Pretty certain I’m getting fired tomorrow - do I quit now?

Yes, this is another post about how cheap Google is.

Here’s the deal: Google’s net income for 2024 was $100 billion, with 55% of that coming from search.
With a $1.8 trillion market cap, Google would “only” need to have a PE ratio of 40—this is considering revenue only from its fast-growing segments like Cloud, YouTube, Waymo, etc.

To put it in context, here are a few companies with similar businesses and their high PE ratios:

Microsoft: 34
Netflix: 54
Tesla: 152
Palantir: 480
Google (excluding search): 40

This completely excludes the search business, as if it stopped generating any revenue overnight. That obviously won’t happen. Even if we see a slowdown in growth or a decline, search will still generate massive amounts of money, which can be used for significant buybacks—like those seen in the last quarter.

TL;DR: Google is basically a fast-growing company with a PE ratio of 40, plus a “dying” business that’s still going to generate around $50 billion annually for the next five years.

To keep this short, I’ve been working in the IT field for over 10 years and was just told that I would be laid off in two weeks. The kicker is that they want me to train my replacements before I go. I plan to continue my career path in IT so I don’t want to burn bridges, but at the same time I’m not going to be used then tossed the side like garbage. I haven’t been investing for very long, so I haven’t personally experienced many major market crises yet. But I keep hearing that the subprime mortgage crisis was a really big deal.

What did the 2008 crash feel like in real time?

Seeing a lot of posts lately like "*I have $250k in a retirement account, $150k of equity in my house, $75k in SPY, and $25k in PooPooPeePee cryptocoin, so that’s half a million dollars, I’m ready to quit my dumbass job and retire at 37.*" Like bro no you’re not.

Unless you have $1.5 million or more sitting in SPAXX, VUSXX, or an equivalent low-risk, liquid vehicle, you should probably keep working and investing until you do. It takes time, skill, and planning to convert home equity into usable cash while still having a roof over your head long-term. It takes even more skill, market timing, tax knowledge, and luck to sell crypto at the right moment. Banks can flag or freeze funds, and some crypto exchanges aren’t even KYC-compliant, making access to that money uncertain. There are all kinds of real-world events that can block you from turning a green number in an app into actual money in the bank.

Most people hit their prime earning years in their 40s and 50s. According to the U.S. Census and Bureau of Labor Statistics, income typically peaks between ages 45 and 54. A mid-level manager at a typical American company can earn $20,000 or more in bonuses during good years, on top of salary, stock awards, and employer retirement contributions. These are the years when promotions, raises, and financial leverage compound. Retiring early cuts off not just income, but also the best years for building wealth through tax-advantaged investing and long-term growth.

And then life happens. If you get sick, you’re paying full-price health insurance with no employer subsidy. One emergency room visit or surgery can blow up your budget. No, you cannot rely on Obamacare, Medicare, or another existing weak safety net to provide 100% of your healthcare needs. If you move to a lower-cost country, you now have to deal with visa requirements, unfamiliar healthcare systems, language barriers, and cultural adjustment. You might save on rent, but it could cost you family ties, community, or a sense of belonging.

FIRE and Lean FIRE often turn into rationing hot water, comparing paper towel prices, skipping preventive care, and showering at the YMCA to cut utility costs. That isn’t freedom. That’s deprivation disguised as a lifestyle.

You can hate your job and still be realistic enough to know that quitting with $500k and no income stream is not financial independence. It’s a risky bet with optimism as your only safety net.

Unpopular opinion: unless your FIRE portfolio at this exact moment generates enough income to live a median lifestyle in your chosen locale, you're not ready to FIRE

My Mother has been banking with Umpqua bank for a long time, the local branch knows her very well. In August 2025 we are pretty sure my mom had a stroke and hasn't been able to walk or care for herself since then. I had to quit my job to Care for her full time. At the time I called an ambulance but she refused care and so they said they couldn't take her in to evaluate her. She was very clear that sh didn't want me and my brother to put her in a home and decided as a family that she would pay me to move in and care for her 24/7. Keep in mind I have 5 children and my own home that I am trying to maintain also. When trying to use my moms bank card one day it didnt work so we called and they unlocked it. then sent a social worker to check on my mom who also said she was just fine and then the bank froze both of her accounts. when me and my brother when to her local branch they told us she needed to come in. we told them she couldnt walk and was bedridden that they could come to her house that is literally a block from the bank and speak with her. They said they couldn't do that but i know for a fact they had people go to her house in the past for other reasons....We were finally able to get her to a doctor but had to pay $500 for and ambulance to transport her. ww then took in a letter from her doctor and were told we had to get power of attorney. mind you during this time NONE of her bills are being paid because her accounts a FROZEN. So my brother has a notary come to my moms house and she signs power of attorney over to my brother. My brother takes it to the bank and a while later they tell him they were denying the power of attorney with no reason when he asked them why. To this day my moms bills are not getting paid. her electricity, water, gas, and property taxes. NOTHING . how do they expect my mother to eat? And now her gas is off so no hot water or heat!














Bank froze my elderly mothers bank accounts

I’m based in the Bay Area with 5 YOE. A couple of months ago, I interviewed for a role I wasn’t too excited about, but the pay was super compelling. In the first recruiter call, they asked for my salary expectations. I asked for their range, as an example here, let’s say they said $150K–$180K. I said, “That works, I’m looking for something above $150K.” I think this was my first mistake, more on that later.

I am a person with low self esteem(or serious imposter syndrome) and when I say I nailed all 8 rounds, I really must believe that. The recruiter followed up the day after 8th round saying team is interested in extending an offer. Then on compensation expectations the recruiter said, “You mentioned $150K earlier.” I clarified that I was targeting the upper end based on my fit and experience. They responded with, “So $180K?” and I just said yes. It felt a bit like putting words in my mouth.

Next day, I got an email saying that I have to wait for the offer decision as they are interviewing  other candidates. Haven’t heard back since. I don’t think I did anything fundamentally wrong or if I should have regrets but curious what others think.

Edit: Just to clarify, in my mind I thought that’s how negotiations work. They will come back and say can’t do 150 but can do 140. But I guess not.

Recently engaged late 30s couple. NW of $30M, average spend of about $750k/year (we travel a shit tonne - fully fired). 

we're looking at a destination wedding and to fly all our friends in, put them up in a 5star spot for a few nights, and have great entertainment/food/drink, we're looking at a $1M wedding budget. is this crazy? know it can be done for much less, but also selfishly looking for some validation that this isn't crazy (or if it is)

How much did you spend on your wedding?

I'm a 51M with a fairly specialized set of skills that has been in high demand for the past few years. I work for the US government and if you've been following the news, you know things aren't great there right now - but my job might actually be safe. I kind of want to quit and maybe find another job, or maybe just take the summer off and reassess, or finally follow my dreams.

Here's the thing -- my whole life I've sought financial security and have never been unemployed. I have always wanted to do creative things like writing or being an entrepreneur but I stuck to the salary + benefits jobs because I wasn't willing to take the risk.

So now here I am, I have $1.55M invested between retirement and brokerage accounts, and about $90K in cash. My job pays \~185K/year and my wife makes about $95K. As of a few months ago, my plan was to work until I had $2.5M, and then retire. My expenses are around 50-60K/year so that seems like a pretty comfortable buffer.

BUT, we might be heading into the worst economy in a long time. The markets are all over the place and I don't think the 6-8% return assumption is going to apply in the near term. We might see runaway inflation. And while in normal times I'd be confident of getting a new job if I needed one, now I'd be competing with dozens of other ex-government employees with the same set of skills and we might be heading into a recession. 

tl;dr: I really want out of the 9 to 5 workforce and I'm past ready to pull the ripcord, but my gut says I should be hanging on to my job for dear life right now. But that's kind of what my gut always says so I don't know if it's trustworthy.

Hi, 45F with 2 kids (6 and 4) live in San Francisco Bay Area. Husband (42) doesn’t earn income (children are high needs) and executes kid school drop off/pickup/appts, meals and groceries. I do everything else (all planning, mental, emotional, financial load etc.) and have a demanding corporate job and feel stagnant in it because of personal load. Retirement doesn’t feel in reach given my declining earnings potential and increasing  family expenses…
Here are our data points:

Assets:
1. Take home annual income: $180K
2. HYSA - $300K return rate is 4%
3. Savings Acct - 20k
4. 401K - $385K return rate 5% -9%
5. Vested stock - $370k 
6. NY Condo worth about $1.3M, rental income $12k annually after expenses. Still owe $500k on the property. 
7. Family home worth - $1.4M 

Mthly Expenses: 
1. Kids care mthly (medical/public education): $4k
2. Mthly mortgage: $6.2k
3. Food (mostly Costco): 1.2K
4. Utilities/other living expenses: $1.5k ave 

I  understand these are privileged numbers but we live frugally due to our medical costs and cost of living in the Bay Area is ever increasing. We also hope our kids can go to college locally without too much debt. 

What should I do dramatically different to reach my goal? A friend suggested an ADU for rental income but I can’t see that yielding more than $1k a month after investment and expenses, plus add that to mental load…

EDIT: Thank you everyone for your time, empathy, and candid replies. Since the consensus is to sell the NY condo...some additional info on this: it is in a high demand area (e.g. walking distance to whole foods, Hermes store). Median sale price yoy has grown by 17%. I had an agent quote me that it could cost ~$80-$100K to sell the condo (crazy, NY has lots of fees), so if I did sell tomorrow likely will make $800K. Selling the condo within the 2/5year tax considerations seems like a solid plan, it would just require me to manage it because husband is not financially savvy. 

Also will move more cash into index funds/market adn get more aggresive on 401K. The stock market makes me nervous especially with recent stories and I just don't have the capacity to figure it out yet. Perhaps hiring a financial planner will be worthwhile...I mustered enough energy to write this at 4am my time because I can't sleep and often freeze with decision fatigue.

Somewhat of a rant I suppose but wondering if others have experienced / felt the way I am feeling at the moment and what they did to get out of this rut.

  
My situation: I am 39 in Ontario, Canada.  I have been an ambitious/driven individual most of my life.  At 39, I have a home, two kids and a wife that I support with my income.  I make \~190K before taxes working in consulting.  On paper, I should be happy - but I'm super unfulfilled.

  
When I was in my 20s/early 30s - I was super ambitious, focused and energized to do interesting work.  I was always looking into how to grow myself - career wise, physically, mentally, etc.  

At this point in life, I've lost all my ambition and it saddens me.  I don't know what to focus on anymore.  I derive little excitement from work.  I love my kids, but I feel as though I've lost purpose.  Living in Canada is expensive, and I want to earn more for my family - but I can't figure out what I should focus on or how to find direction in the latter half of my career.

  
I am not lazy, but I can't find that inner compass I used to have to propel me forward and find meaning in what I do.  Hoping others that have gone through something similar can shed some light on how they re-oriented themselves.

Inherited some money-Texas,USA

Hey y’all, my mom passed away in January this year. She left me close to half a million dollars. Plus a small house, shares in oil & gas (so about $1k monthly), and a few other shares that only generate $20 a year. Oil wells don’t last forever. So I don’t expect that 1k to keep coming always.

She had Huntington’s Disease. I just got diagnosed with it. I expect to start symptoms in my mid 40s like she did. I’m 25 right now.

I really don’t want to spend these next 20 years before symptom onset working for little pay & no fun.

If I let the disease play out to its natural end, I’ll never even live until retirement age. And I do not plan on letting the disease play out. I want to go out on my own terms.

I’ve thought about it a lot-that if I am positive that I want to travel. I want to be able to enjoy “retirement” before I go. But I don’t want to just blow all my money.

So basically Im asking what can I do to make my money work for me in a shorter time frame?
All advice I’ve received is based on retiring at 65, but I literally won’t live that long. 

For more details: $150k is in stocks. It tripled from $50k (2008) to $150k (2025). I have orders to deplete this within 2035 based on the account types.

$250k is in a money market. And another 50k is between a few bank accounts. 

I have a CPA, so I’ll be talking with them about everything & asking their opinion too. Plus the investment company financial advisor where I have the money market-I’ll talk to them too.

I am not looking for anyone to tell me that I am young & I’ll live to see a cure. I keep up with the treatments & such, so I don’t need anyone telling me what to think in that regard.

But otherwise, I’m hoping for some advice & different perspectives. Maybe something I can ask the CPA & investment company about. I’m very nervous about that state of the economy; its been fucking up my 401k.

$51.5k taxable brokerage
$27k roth 401K
$15k roth IRA
$7k crypto

$103k cash in CD (house savings)
$24k cash emergency fund
28(m) Electrical Engineer, currently work remote. I have been left in the dust by all my friends in terms of salary (started out at $55k, currently at $84k) and still looking for that big salary jump. Was able to keep my expenses extremely low out of college ($400 a month rent splitting a 2x2 w/ roomate) and buy a starter home in FL for $244k in December 2020, putting 10% down after about 1.3 years of savings. The next 1.5 years I spent putting another 10% of principal into the house to get rid of PMI. Up until then, I had minimal investments. Through college and later I took extra side gigs, mystery shopping, uber eats, etc to put more money into that account and a Roth IRA. In 2020 when stocks were in the gutter I put all the cash I had saved for my house down payment (as safely as I could) and made about 15% and transferred out to my brokerage acct. Then the past 3 few years been pouring money into the investment account, and was able to get a job with a 6% roth 401k match. Maxed out my roth for the first time this year.
Sold my house end of last year and was able to walk away with $135k.
Currently have $103k in a 14 month CD at 4.5%.

For 2021-2024 so much of my net worth was unrealized and tied up in a house, it feels good to still have money set aside for another house, but finally hit 6 figures in investments. And feel accomplished doing this with still a relatively low salary compared to alot of ppl in this sub.
Only about 20k until $250k net worth!!
